1.Measuring the length of grating scale

The basic principle is to install two fixed-length grating scales on the outside of the two ends of the straight seam steel pipe, the grating scales are driven by the rods near the ends of the steel pipe, and the length of the straight seam steel pipe is measured by the interference phenomenon of light. It is characterized by high accuracy. However, the scale is expensive and difficult to maintain, so it is sensitive to the effects of dust and site vibration.


2. Camera length measurement Camera length measurement is realized by image processing of steel pipe length measurement. The principle is to install a series of equidistant photoelectric switches in one section of the conveyor roller of the straight seam steel pipe, and increase the light source and camera in another section. When the steel pipe passes through this area, the length of the steel pipe can be determined from the photoelectric switch based on the position of the image taken by the camera on the screen. This is characterized by the fact that when the steel pipe passes through the measurement area without intervals, online measurement can be realized and length data can be obtained.


3. Encoder Length Measurement The principle is to install an encoder on the cylinder, drive the steel pipe on the roller with the cylinder, and install a series of equidistant photoelectric switches on the other side. When the steel tube is touched by the photoelectric switch at the end of the cylinder, the cylinder stroke can be converted from the recorded encoder reading to calculate the length of the steel tube. It is characterized by the need to lift the steel pipe when measuring the length. In addition, there are some errors in the photoelectric switch detection that may require full measurement.


4.Improved Encoder Length Measurement This method is an indirect measurement method, which can indirectly measure the length of the steel pipe by measuring the distance between the two ends of the steel pipe and their respective reference points. A length measuring car is set up at both ends of the steel pipe with zero initial position and spacing L. Then the length of the editor is moved to the walking distance (L2, L3) at one end of each steel pipe, i.e., the length of the steel pipe, i.e., the length of the steel pipe.


This measurement method overcomes the difficulties such as large size of steel pipe, complex environment of production site, and the measurement mechanism can not cross the lower support of steel pipe, etc. It is easy to operate, and the measurement accuracy is less than ±10 mm, and the repeat accuracy is ≤5 mm.
