Seamless steel pipes are widely used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and water transportation due to their high strength, corrosion resistance, and durability. After cutting, the pipe ends must be ground using an angle grinder to remove any plastic coating. This step is crucial to prevent the coating from melting or burning during flange welding, which could damage the pipe. The angle grinder ensures a smooth, clean surface for further processing.


2. Plastic Coating Application for Seamless Steel Pipes

Once grinding is complete, the pipe ends are heated externally using oxygen and C2H2 (acetylene) until the internal plastic layer begins to melt. Skilled workers then apply a prepared plastic powder evenly to the pipe ends, ensuring full coverage—especially above the waterline on flanges.

Key Considerations:

· Temperature Control: Excessive heat can cause bubbles in the coating, while insufficient heat may lead to incomplete melting of the plastic powder. Both scenarios can result in coating detachment, exposing the seamless steel pipe to corrosion.


3. Cutting Seamless Steel Pipes

Pipes should be cut to the required length using metal saws or abrasive cutters. If flame cutting (oxy-fuel) is used, protective measures must be taken:

· Fireproof Barriers: Place heat-resistant shields at both ends of the cutting area to prevent sparks and molten metal from damaging the pipe’s existing coating.

· Cooling Methods: Water cooling may be applied to minimize heat impact on the surrounding material.


4. Connecting Seamless Steel Pipes

After coating and treatment, pipes are connected using flanges with rubber gaskets for sealing. Bolts should be tightened securely to ensure a leak-proof joint. Proper alignment and torque application are essential to maintaining structural integrity.
