1.Different working principles
Gas welding is a welding method that uses the flame generated by themixed combustion of combustible gas and combustion supporting gas asthe heat source to melt the weldment and welding material and realizeatomic bonding. Electric welding uses electric energy to pressurize, heat, or both, with or without filler material to achieve atomicbonding of weldments.
2.The basic operation process is different
Themain processes of gas welding include ignition, flame regulation and flameout, and stacking of flat welding waves.
The main processes of electric welding include arc striking, strip transportation and weld ending.
Welding methods are usually divided into fusion welding, pressure welding and brazing according to the different heating and pressure conditions during welding.
Fusion welding is to heat the metal at the joint of the weldment to the molten state during the welding process. The welding is generally completed without pressurization. In the welding process, the heat source quickly melts the metal at the welded joint and adds filler metal when necessary. The molten pool extends with the movement ofthe heat source and forms a weld after cooling.
According to different electric heating methods, it can be divided into electro slag welding, arc welding, laser welding and electron beam welding. Fusion welding is widely used in various welding methods, especially arc welding.
Pressure welding is a welding method that connects the joints of weldment sunder pressure (with or without heating). According to different pressure welding mechanisms, pressure welding can be divided intohigh-frequency welding, diffusion welding, resistance welding, friction welding, ultrasonic welding and so on. Among them, resistance welding is the most widely used.
Most pressure welding methods have no melting process, and there are no problems of combustion of beneficial alloy elements such as fusion welding and immersion of harmful elements in the weld. However, the welding conditions of pressure welding are harsh and the scope of application is narrow.
Brazing is a welding process in which materia ls with a melting point lower than the weldment are melted and adhered to the weldment, and the weldment joints are connected together after cooling. Generally, itcan be divided into gas welding and electric welding.
Gas welding, also known asburning welding, uses acetylene gas as the combustion source, mixeswith oxygen, and uses a welding gun to weld metal parts after ignition. Some unique metals are easily oxidized (such as aluminum) and need inert gas protection, such as argon welding.
