Common Anti-Corrosion Techniques for Spiral Steel Pipes

In everyday life, anti-corrosion spiral steel pipes play significant and diverse roles. These pipes refer to ordinary spiral steel pipes that have undergone anti-corrosion treatment using special techniques, endowing them with certain anti-corrosion capabilities. Typically, they are used for waterproofing, rust prevention, acid and alkali resistance, and oxidation resistance.

 

Spiral steel pipes are commonly used for fluid and gas transportation. These pipes often need to be buried underground, submerged in water, or suspended in air during construction. Due to the inherent corrosive nature of steel and the varying construction environments, proper installation of pipes is crucial. Inadequate installation can affect the pipe’s lifespan and potentially lead to environmental pollution, fires, explosions, and other catastrophic incidents.

 

Nowadays, almost all spiral steel pipe projects incorporate anti-corrosion techniques to ensure the pipe's durability and the safety and environmental compatibility of the pipeline projects. The anti-corrosion performance of spiral steel pipes also significantly impacts the economic viability and maintenance costs of pipeline projects.

 

The anti-corrosion techniques for spiral steel pipes have evolved into a sophisticated system based on their use and the different anti-corrosion processes.

 

IPN8710 and Epoxy Coal Tar Anti-Corrosion: These techniques are mainly used for potable water supply and water transportation pipelines. This type of anti-corrosion generally employs external epoxy coal tar and internal IPN8710 processes. The process is simple and cost-effective.

 

3PE and TPEP Anti-Corrosion Steel Pipes: These methods are commonly used for gas and potable water transportation. They offer superior performance and high automation levels, although their costs are generally higher than other anti-corrosion techniques.

 

Plastic Coated Steel Pipes: Currently, this is the most widely used anti-corrosion technique. Its applications include water supply and drainage, fire sprinklers, and mining. The process is mature, with excellent anti-corrosion and mechanical properties. It also boasts low maintenance costs and a long lifespan, gaining increasing acceptance and promotion from engineering design units.

 

Spiral steel pipes are a type of semi-solid hot-sprayed plastic, typically using flame retardant-filled epoxy resin or polyurethane. After coating, they undergo heat treatment to achieve new pipes with excellent oxidation resistance and wear resistance. Due to their easy construction, simple methods, and ease of use, they are widely used in China. When selecting an anti-corrosion method for spiral steel pipes, factors such as application area, construction environment, and cost budget need to be considered. On-site construction can forge the steel pipes using pressure vessels as required, but attention must be paid to the construction environment, especially ensuring the site is dry.
